my job consists of me flying around the country to help train national guard units in the army to prepare for deployments...This week the job took me to alaska, first time ever going there. Other than the shock of being in Austin last sunday with 85 degree temps and being here this week with negative 5 temps, I had a great time flying around here and up to the glaciers and thought I'd share a few pics. pics are a bit crappy, using my cell phone and hard to fly and take pics at the same time

Nice Tony. You need to see if a civilian can jump on for a ride down here sometime.:D Been a while since I've been up in one.;)

God....just beautiful pictures up there..........man, what a nice job you have...........to be able to see all that beautiful country from a chopper..........thanks for sharing, loved seeing them......yeah, if you pick up Charlie, don't forget me! Move over, Charlie!

enough room in there for 1 more ? would love to go flying with you guys!!!!!

Well his base is just south of me so he'll have to fly really far to pick you guys up.:p I'm in the Texas neighborhood though.:D

i will pick bruce up on the way down to you :) wasnt that why you were making 3 chicken and a steak? lol

Got side tracked today so I'll be cooking tomorrow. You've got just enough time to do a tag team drive and get down here tomorrow night.:D You forgot about the hot links and itallian sweet sausage.;) I should be done around 7 and you should be able to get here in just under 24 hours.

when I was flying medevac up in seattle, used to have alot of people ask how to get a ride...i always told them first...go as far as you can into the mountains where no cars can travel, then then severely hurt yourself, bad enough so that if you aren't medevac'ed out, you will die....call 911 if you have a signal, and if the weather is fair, promise i'll try to find you and pick you up and take you to the hospital. I'd love to be able to take my son up in one, but i've been teaching him how to fly airplanes for now. I have been able to take him to the simulator, and if you're ever around ft hood, I can get you into the full motion simulator and let you fly that one around. I'll be up your way in the next couple of weeks...flying up to dallas a few times for some training, will see if there's an airport your way and i'll stop in if you're around to check out the helicopter.

Hill county regonal isn't that far from me and it's almost on your way Tony.;) If you were flying up here tomorrow you could set down and have some snacks while I was cooking.:D Gotta play next week carefully. I'm waiting on approval from workers comp to get a hernia repair. Should be mid week and it's an out patient procedure. I should go in around 0700 and get out late in the afternoon but then I have to sit or lay for a week so I don't hurt it worse.:(

Oh, God!!! I just fell into the wood chipper and cut both legs and arms off!!! I'm in desparate need of a "heli-chopper" rescue!!! But I forgot the number to call 911!!!! I had to call information at 411 to get the 911 number!!! Wait! How did I dial those numbers? Well........with Viagra you can dial anything!:p

Thanks, James, for coming to pick me up...........I'll be waiting by the wood chipper if I haven't bled out by then! Appreciate it. If you find me non responsive, a donation of a T-44 turbocharger would be greatly appreciated.

Whoa, boy!!! Hernia operation? Oh, sheeeeeps! I had two hernias in my life,Charlie. But I'm afraid to tell you about the agony I went through with both of them, so I'll just wish you the best of luck in your repair (really!)

You tell that doc that I have all the tools necessary for any kind of operation and if he wants me to FedEx any up to the operating room to help you out, just let me know...........I sterilize my tools with WD40 ,so they are all ready to go chopping away at you!!!:D

I got my first hernia by lifting my Fender Bandmaster amp with two 12"JBL speakers in it all over hell and creation (we had no roadies, just us..all that equipment to the job, then the next..then I had to leave when the Beatles called for my first tryout.)

The second hernia was exactly to the day, one year later, when I was ice skating behind my Grandmother's home on the Choptank River in Maryland.....I slipped and fell hard, real hard....ow!!......what made it fun was (God, did it hurt, big bulge down there but for all the wrong reasons!) I had to drive 2 1/2 hours home with my Mom in my '68 Firebird 400 Ram Air, which I had set up for drag racing months before(rode like a logging truck, so damn rough, and sat just like a Pro Stock car) Man, what a painful day that was. Long and painful! I thought I was going to pass out over the Chesapeke Bay Bridge.

So, I hope yours is a little less eventful.........just make sure you take a count of the doctor's tools after the operation.....same number when started....same number when finished....so simple but efficient! And less costly!

Good luck, my buddy.........no bellyaching nor whining when finished................let us know how it went.....expecially I want to hear, as both of mine were pure disasters!

I spent 5 years in the bush in Alaska and I mean in the BUSH (No way in or out but by chopper) was in and under those damn things for months at a time. Even came within minutes of going down in a brand new Huey D-500, had to ditch the damn thing way out in the bush, the main transmission broke in it. Only thing I can say is I got to see some bad ass country in them.

It's in the groin. The doc said he's going to do it with laproscopic surgery so I'll be in and out in 24 hours or less. The big thing is I have to sit for a week and do nothing before I can go back to work. I'm working on tractor trailers so I'm very limited to what I can do right now.:( I got it while lifting a tractor tire so I could do a flat repair.

I know what you mean about laughing. I actually bend over to cough which relieves the pressure but it still isn't fun. I've got a very high pain tolerance and got tylenol 3 for the pain but so far all I've used is 1.5 pills. The most pain I've gotten so far is when the doc examined me. The first exam made me walk like I've been on a horse for a week and wasn't fun, to say the least.

i have an extremely high pain tolerance and dont like taking anything, but after this surgery that wasnt an option...finished all of the pills and was still in a ton of pain...had to let gravity take its course standing over the toilet to pee...that much pain

Well that doesn't sound fun at all.:( Hopefully it won't be as bad for me but I'll have some drugs to knock the edge off.
