Maybe Rick can help with this.

I need to remove my fender vents to paint them. I was wondering if anyone knows a trick to getting the allen head screws out without damaging the vents? Also, how would you hold the inside wing nut fastener without dropping them into the fenders?

Any help would be appreciated,

You use a balled Allen wrench as you noted for clearance issues with the fender vents.
First take out the inner ring.
When you take the inner ring out make sure to hold the inner duct, there is a hole at the top of the duct for you to hold. Place the duct on the wheel well housing inside do not attempt to remove the duct from the vehicle.
Use your hand and locate the Stainless Steel nuts that secure the retention ring to the fender vent. The nut are knurled for gripping, so what I like to do is unscrew the nut from the inside and use the Allen whence to keep the bolt from rotation. (Do not drop the nuts or your %^$#@#@ as a magnet will not work on them:eek: .)
You can pull the retainer out from the fender vent hole or set it on the inside next to the duct.
PS. It helps if you have smaller arms.;)
