Like the title says I think it would be neat to see how fast some have went with the TE44 turbo. This turbo was very popular back in the day and is still used a lot today. So if you have/had a TE44 turbo on your car please post your combo of parts and the max boost that you ran to get your best times from the 44..

11.31 120.9 with mine at 21 psi old garret m24 comp housing and garret .82 exhaust housing

3580 race weight , 93 octane , 20* timing , through the mufflers, foot brake 2800 10.5 protorque ,255/60-15 mickey radials

te44

11.44 at 122.86 21deg of timing, ported heads,212/206 roller cam..front mount intercooler..23lbs of boost..that's all the boost it would make.3500lbs.i had like a 1.97 60ft because i had some crappy bfg drag radials and i also had a bad 2/3 flair..i wish i would have stayed with the combo for a little while longer..with the trans i have now i think 10's wouldn't have been a problem..i loved that turbo..it had no lag at all with the Precision .63 exhaust housing and stock torque converter..if i ever have a daily driven GN it will have a te44.....Bob

nice mph bob , that should have put you at 11.10 at just over 500hp
i calculate at just over 490hp and mph calcs correct for et
but like you said i tried for a little more and the car didnt like it at 23 it was breaking up a little and ran slower the more i pushed it (have atleast one lifter is pumping up ) . was shooting for only 11.50 but thats not what she wanted to do... i pulled the boost back and she kept going faster , and my 60 wasnt stellar with only a 1.60 , had to leave with next to nothing for boost or risk blowing the tires away because it spools stupid fast , i had 4400 rpm at 15psi before i broke the beams

1.56 - 60' on M/T street

11.48 - 1/4

Leaving w/6 to 8

Running w/ 26 (meth)

Full weight street

years ago i was involved with a car that ran a 10.90 using one.
I am putting together a car for a guy with a TA49 that should run high tens.

thanks Paul

i am pretty sure the car would have ran in the 10.8 to 10.9 range...from my experience for every tenth you can knock off the 60ft you can double that up at the end..i had everything cranked down..Rjc boost controller and had the wastegate tight as i could get it to get the 23lbs out of it....it just wouldn't blow anymore..i have been lucky i guess as far as having a car that runs clean with lots of boost..i think people are too quick to upgrade and not max out their current combos..i did it too..i love my current combo but traction on the street is not good but it sure is fun:)

fastest 44 i know of went 10.70's at 125 with a garrett .82,gears can't remember,heads, cam, intake,slicks,ac 9 inch,race gas with appropriate fuel system.

. Most cant even get their cars to go that fast with a 67 or larger wheel and the new technology.

11.60 @ 115, 1.60 60ft.
Stock motor- untouched heads, intake, tb, stock cam/timing set, 980 valve springs, bluetops, 3" thdp, 23 bgc IC, walbro 340, accufab regulator. Lonnie tranny from '03. restalled D5 by Dan Boxdorfer (~2800-3000 stall.) ET streets (28x12.5), Garret .63 exhaust housing. 2 Airbags, factory rear LCA's/ diff, ect., no front sway bar. Between 110 and 117 octane. Bad 1-2 flair.
Boost- 25 psi
Timing- 28*, Red Armstrong 108 chip
Race weight- 3600 w/ me

All of this done with 166,000 miles on the clock. Basic old school combo.

The car did go 7.15 in the 1/8 on a Conleys Max Mag chip (36*timing:eek:) but would lean out at about 100mph so i never got a full run with it. This was all about 5 years ago.

Fun turbo. Great first aftermarket turbo. If you blow your sh!t up with a te44, go buy a small block chevy.:D
