this was with egr hooked up and a working cat and a e chip

help

Stock EGR or aftermarket? Idle looks really lean and dyno test looks a little rich.

this was with a stock gm egr,

checked the pcv valve its working ok

new plugs, magnecore wires, new coil pack, oil & filter

55lbs injs champ irons had the lead removed to make the egr funtional, gasket matched intake and throttle body, hemco upper.

the car really ran badly with this e chip.

should i just put the reds chip back in and try again??

oh yes i also forgot to tighten the oil return line at the block oil was spitting out durning test. if that would have an effect???

I don't like changing chips just to pass an emissions test. It couldn't hurt to try the chip you normally use.
Was oil spitting out near the O2 sensor, cuz it could have killed it.

im not real sure if it hit the o2 or not. but it did spit all over the place....DOH!!!

im gonna go plug the direct scan in and see what going on,
funny every time i try one of these e chips my car runs like a bag of !@#$

thanks
Dave

Something must be way off somewhere for it to run that bad, sounds way too lean. Do you have screens in the MAF? It will run like crud without screens.

Eric

thanks eric,

ok heres what i tried so far,
installed reds 93 chip idled it till fully warmed up and wrote down results , then the same with my e chip.
and i installed 1 screen in the mass air meter (thats all i could find.)

fuel press is at 40 line off

when does the egr work at cruise?
id really like to get this car passed asap, summer is here any tips ideas

With the emission chip, I would bump up the fuel pressure to 43psi to see if you can get any of the blm cells that are 160 to come down a little. It may be lean because the ECM ran out of adjustment (160 is the limit in that chip).
The EGR should be on most of the time during cruise, with the duty cycle varying with load/rpm, in the 20%-70% range.

On the Reds chip, as long as it has all the emissions related stuff operating in the chip, then I would think it should work also.

Eric

ok turned the fuel press up to 44 line off
at idle the blm hit 137
and at 36 mph blm 101
egr 20.7

with the red chip at idle blm 95
@35 mph blm 90
egr was at 27

so which chip should i use?
do i just keep playng with fuel pressure till i get the closest to 128 blm s?

im so lost lol

If you use the emissions chip, maybe bump the fp down 1 psi. If you use Red's chip, I would turn the fuel pressure down until the blm's come up some, at least off 90.

There's probably no difference in the way EGR is set up between the two. They are set up like the stock chip.

There's no way to really know which one will do better unfortunately. Just do all the normal stuff, change oil, plugs, O2 sensor, and see what happens.

Eric
