I read through the threads I could find but what's up with this. What is causing this as I have checked the wiring on the aftermarket and the factory tach does the same. comes n goes. Is the only cure is to send the cluster out to Caspers?? Scanmaster signal is fine.

You've checked the green lead to make sure its not broken/grounding out somewhere ?
remember the cluster does the same. aftermarket tach wiring has been checked to the lead behind alternator. if the aftermarket is at fault then cluster should work. but they both act the same. signal comes and goes.
