Electric Gauge vs. Scanmaster Temp

My Autometer ES coolant temp gauge consistently reads about 8 degrees warmer than my Scanmaster temperature. I plumbed in the Autometer gauge where an old sensor was on the drivers side front of the intake manifold. I forget what that temperature sensor was but used that based on advice from a previous post.

I'm hoping my Autometer gauge is more accurate than the SM reading. Anyone else see this?

Does it read the same when cold?
Verify the electical ground to the gage with an ohm meter.
