Compreesion Union on Trans Line

My tranny has to come out so I can get to the rear of the motor to fix an oil leak either at my cam core plug or pipe threads. Question though is that my transmission cooler line is seized and the head is rounded, is it alright to cut it about 6" from the tranny and use a compression union to put a new section of line in. I really don't like rubber due to the pressure in the line, but will a brass coupler be ok, or should I find a way to remove the entire line and replace it all the way up to the cooler. Any tranny guys, your advice is appreciated or if someone has successfully used this method. Thanks in advance.

A little late here but I agree, I have put a couple dozen in trans lines over the years with no problems. Except for that pos 76 Ranchero that had rusted lines and it didn't seal:rolleyes: .
