PowerStream Power Supplies and Chargers for OEMs in a Hurry

Reading a old post brings this subject.

Question:
Should there be concern to maintain a clean and fixed voltage source with relation to the feed and care of an ECM be important?
A PSU of some description is suggested to be used with various sorts of (digital) switching gear and computers (and if you don't have one lookout).
MSD, BS3, EM, etc., fall into this category (i'm guessing.)
Another guess (on my part) is that the stress from a less than clean constant voltage source causes a ECM to not maintain constant output of their various design functions (idle, etc..)
Any thoughts?

Most ecu;s use the negative side as a reference for pulsing injectors, so Grounds are most important. Look at the stock GN harness all grounds go to the block and multiple grounds to reduce multiple loads on a common grounding point. Body grounds can shift the ground reference your sensors as different loads are turned on in the car. Ground you ecm to the block you will be fine.
