Car was running great.......shut off......2 hrs later will not star, why?

Has this happened to any of you? Any clues? Car ('86 GN, with basic mods and trans +) was running fine, pulled into the garage and shut it off. A couple of hrs later went to start and engine would turn over but not a single pop. All connections appear to be tight. How could it be running good the instant I shut it off and then the instant I try to start, nothing? Thanks for any hints for trouble shooting.

My car did this exact thing a couple of years ago....

Check the coil pack & ignition module.

check and make sure you have spark and fuel.

When mine did that is was the crank sensor

Check your CCCI fuse.

Thanks for the help. After sitting overnight, it started like usual. If this is an intermittent problem it will be very difficult to diagnois. Thanks.

Try the Crank sensor. The symptons you are describing sound like it is starting to go.

Mine did the same thing. It was also the crank sensor. Not a very expensive part but kind of hard to get to it to change.

Also check your grounds, especially on the back of the engine.
