Car start issues

Hey guys

I am starting to notice after the past couple of days that when I try to start my 84 up, sometimes I hear like a clicking noise. As if the starter doesn't want to start the car up or something. And then on another occasion it took it a little longer than usual to start the car up. In the past, it's been fine, but my neighbor (Who used to be a viper tech at Dodge) told me that it sounded like my starter needed to be shimmed.

Someone else said it could be my battery going bad on me. (It's kind of taking a beating over the past year, with all the issues I've had with the car, I've constantly had to charge and recharge it, etc) So I'm curious. Do you guys think that it's a battery or the starter finally going on me? Or is it something else entirely?

I'm starting to lean toward bad battery as well. It just feels like that sort of issue.

I figured I ought to buy a new one anyway as I get the car ready for inspection.

Thanks Brad.
