There are two part numbers on gmpartsdirect.com for the
brake accumulator for an 86 GN, 18038506 and 18038507,
which one is correct., or will either on of them work,
Thanks

Ken

My vote is for 18038507.

The other one doesn't cost enough. That might be for O rings or something.

I actually ordered and received the cheaper one before I saw
the other part number. It is a complete accumlator with O ring, the difference between the two are;

the "nut" to install on the new one is next to the threads
if that make any sense and the "nut" to install the one
that is on the car now has the nut on the "bulb" and the
one on the car now has a yellow ring on it.

The one on the car now is one that I installed about 8 years
ago

GM catalog says 18038507. I can't find an application listing for the 8506.

Either one will work. 18038506 is for a 1985 and is what the original factory installed accumulator looked like. 18038507 is listed for 86 and 87. Around 89 GM changed to the bigger accumulator in hopes it would cure the hard pedal complaint our cars would have after a couple of years but I have not concluded they last any longer than the smaller ones. Even if they did your still money ahead in the long run as you can buy 2 small ones for the cost of a large one.
