I'm looking for some wheels for my '71 Chevelle and I see not one but two separate websites for Boyd's wheels and I find it a little confusing…

1° This site: http://www.americanrepublicwheels.com who claim to be the owner of "Boyd Coddington" and "Boyd's wheels"
and
2° This other site: http://hotrodsbyboyd.com owned by Chris Coddington.

Do you guys know why two separate sites?…To add to the confusion, there are some wheels which are listed on both sites but not all of them. The ones I'm looking at are called "Rodster" ( these: http://www.americanrepublicwheels.co...gton%2Drodster ) and are only listed on the first website I mentioned above.
What do you guys think?

thanks,

Claude.

I've done a little more research and it seems that one of his sons (Chris) has started his own business ("hotrodsbyboyd") and that his other son (Boyd Jr.) stayed with, or kept the initial company, not 100% sure though…It appears that Boyd's wife Jo tried to run the company for a few months after his death but wasn't able to and she ended up losing a lot of money. I was surprised to read that Boyd didn't even have a will made…which to me is essential …not a sign of a good businessman.

I've also read that Boyd was an a**hole with others and because of his bad temper he lost several key men (Foose, Hutton, and more) and was acting like if he was the king and expected that everyone would be his servants...

I don't know who owns Boyd's wheels now but yes they were sold off after he died. But there are a lot of vendors out there that sell his wheels. I purchased mine back 10 years ago or so and bought cheaper from a vendor than straight from Boyd.

And Boyd an A hole noooooo? Really? I thought everyone could tell that from his TV show. lol

Well now I'm very disappointed.

I had my mind made up and e-mailed "American Republic Wheels asking them about the price and availability of the "Rodster" wheels and I got a reply from David Rittenhouse (sales manager at American Republic wheels) saying that the particular wheels I want are only available in 17" (way too small for me) for $3,700.

and that any other size will have to be custom made and would cost me $6,400. ! !

Funny 'cause on their website it says that these wheels are available in sizes from 17' to 24"…go figure...

When I bought my Timeless Five's 10-15 years ago a set of 17's were about $1500.00 for the set. Now they are $3500.00 a set.
