Art Carr pan modification for 700 style filter

I want to use a 700 style filter with my Art Carr pan. Do the filter bosses at the bottom of the pan need to be completely removed or just cut down some. If they only need to be cut down some, how much height should still be left in the pan? Thanks for any info, Jeff

I had mine taken down flush to the bottom but others I have seen leave 1/4" on there. It all seems to work.
