I bought a lt1 mini starter from gm.

When my car is hot it cranks over once and struggles .

If the car is cold it cranks over no problem.

1) Do these starters need more juice?

2) Are they more prone to becoming heat soaked than stock.

3) Do you need a heat shield or should i rap the coil?

Thanks all for your input!

Check your wiring and grounds and make sure the gear alignment is good.
They actually take less power than the stocker. I've had mine for 2 years with zero probs

wiring looks. I think they are prown to getting heat soaked.

Maybe i need to relocate the solenoid

Any other suggestions?

YA you have too much starting timing in the dfi. Still waiting for your visit.........

Dont think its timing. It is definitley heat soaked

Maybe me and rich will stop by with his killer ride!

crank it and shut it off a few times back to back then feel the ends of each battery cable ...If one end is hot then you have bad connection or bad cable

there is no reason for a lt1 starter to drag on a 8.1 compression 3.8 no matter if its hot or not

check both ends of eack cable

at the batt and at the starter and front of block where the ground bolts up
