i have this 85 kawasaki gpz550 that i am trying to fix. i went to start it one day, and when i turned the power on, i heard a pop, and that was it. the bike still lights up and all, but when i press the start button, nothing happens. anybody have any suggestions other than the fuses?

hmmmmmm, check the fues as stated before but it could also be the coil pack, are you getting any spark?

If you look in the seat area there is a small plastic box. It should have a cover on it that opens. Inside there is a metal strip about 1" long. Check to see if its melted in two. If so then the start and or solenoid is froze. Even if its still in one piece my guess is the starter or solenoid is froze. Rectifier could have gone bad too. Kaws are known for that.
