When you buy a set of 980s valve springs can you use your stock retainers and keepers or do you have to get the corresponding retainers and keepers for that valve spring?
You can reuse the keepers and retainers, but don't re-install the 'cups' that the stock springs sit it.... they will put the spring pressure too high for a flat tappet cam..... :wink:
I reused my stock stuff. If doing it on the car it may not be a bad idea to purchase a few extra (retainers or keepers - I'm not sure which - the little pieces that are 2 per value) in case you lose one when removing the springs.
