The heavy duty band helps these transmissions out alot and if you remember the completely "stock" transmissions were usually good down to around 11.50 et's. One of the benefits of the "GN" trans was it's special valve body.
Well they were good for turbo motors since there wasnt much torque curve. I am looking to replace my 2004r behind my 383 since I wiped out one similar to the one you described. I'll pass on this one.
