1983 cutlass with lt1 350 and th350 combo with 3.42's 7.5 open rearend what would my top mph be. I have no concern driving over 85 mph but I would like to have a idea of what this setup will do for highway driving. if i had 3.73's i know my highway top speed would be real low. i just wanna make sure im not gonna top out at 68 mph or something like that.

i dont have the 3.42s yet its still stock 2.29 i think. the car was a 6 banger 3.8 before

With that engine, why not move up to an 8.5 out of a T-Buick? I can't see spending alot of money on a 7.5" rear, IMHO.

Well this thread I posted does not matter any more because sat I was able to get myself an 8.5 non posi Axel from an 85 442 with 3.73's for $500 craigslist. Since then I started lookin for posi units from auburn or eaton so this is my next move. Then I can swap that old 7.5 out

I've had good luck with Complete Offroad. They have Free S/H & meet or beat others prices. Send them a Email or call for best price.

If you plan on new axles, you can get a 30-Spline Posi Carrier and 30-Spline axles for more strength. Stock is 28-Spline. The Yukon DuraGrip Posi can be found cheaper than Eaton sometimes also. A Solid Pinion Spacer will add strength also, stock uses Crush Sleeve for Pinion bearing preload.
It does pay to shop around & see what price the different Co.'s will meet/beat. Many of them have ebay stores with better prices.
