moved on to th400 but when i was on 200-4r art carr 9", pts deep pan , stock shortblock 71gtq .85exh, stock headers ..93/alky tt 5.4 chip..stock shifter with some gate modifications , using msbc-1 for boost and launch control
60'
6 psi (3600)---1.50 on 255/55-16 and gtas
10psi (4200) --1.41 on 275/80-15 mt drag radials
hp at that time was just around 600 at 23-24 psi

3" 1350 driveshaft (stock pinion yoke)
8.5 rear , stock 86 gears , 33spline moser spool and eliminators
stock uppers boxed stock lowers, hrparts swaybar, 3 way cheap shocks , stock springs no airbags.

i used the tbrake every launch (over 600 runs) and also used od for years when running the gtas because the rear tires were only 25.7" tall

heres the video on 275s (had 21psi in tires)

60' Time - 1.32
Launch boost - 13lbs
What rear mods -
solid uppers and soutside lowers, -4.75 pinion angle, slicks, stock sway bar.

Have changed to an hr bar and different lowers, still tuning but best with new combo is a 1.35.

How well do these 8.5 stock rears hold up to the trans brake?

This well. It's really a roll of the dice. If it tire shakes or wheel hops it won't last long. This one broke on its first drag strip hit. Had many on the street. 9 sec power in a full weight car.

On that car the ring and pinion was replaced and the trans brake removed. The owner has two other cars that are 2-3 seconds faster and didn't want to switch to an aftermarket rear since he 99% drives on the street. The real answer is a good aftermarket rear. The stock rest is easy to sell and will bet $850-1000 toward a stronger rear if milking every bit of et out of it is required.

Is there any way to beef up stock rear without going to a new rear? I do need to replace my diff clutches and will be a good time rebuild it , i do have moser axles.
