1986 GN 4.1 +.020 head gasket pass side leak

I need to replace a fluid leaking head gasket. Running Champion Alum heads. Compressions all look good. Someone said to use cometic 4.060 bore .040 , I thought 4.040 bore.040 would be the right size. Rookie looking for info. Should I use copper gasket sealer. Heads were installed 10 years ago, I haven't pulled the heads yet. Always want parts in hand first.

You need to pull what you have then go from there.

Since it was build 10 years ago what you have and what you think you have might be two completely different things.

Plus alum heads + long term leaky gaskets usually mean machine shop time.

Located the head gaskets from Champion, which is only 10 miles from my house. Will start teardown shortly, any pref on 4.040 or 4.060 gaskets on a 4.020 bore?

Either OD will work as long as it's not smaller than your bore. If you have a choice go with the smaller one.
