I'm pretty clueless when it comes to engine building and even worse with turbo buicks. I'm making a trade to get get the block for my turbo hurst project and the block (109) is .030 Now i've been told several different things such as the car would get really hot under normal street driving and the hot engine temp would cause detonation. I would like some thoughts/opinions on this subject. thanks - bob

My current (109) block is bore-over .030. before cutting the bore i have the cylinder wall sonic check. I found that some of these block are good for .030+. And i have found some with thin walls in some areas of the cylinder. Sonic check the block is the smart way to answer your question.
