Wondering about untorqueing main caps on a stock block... Manual says to tighten them alternatively... Guessing they mean a little on one bolt then a little on the other until torqued to spec... Start in the middle and work my way from the middle to the outside caps? And when untorqueing...

Got the motor stripped down to the basics. Heads, lower intake, left the water pump and timing chain cover and oil pan on. Crank has the dampner and pulley on it. Need to pull the pan to check main and rod bearings... After I get them bearings all done, figured i could roll the block back on...

So i have a spare engine I need to use. Was supposed to be low mileage 87 gn motor. Who knows what condition its in... Definitely stock 87 GN engine. I did a leak down test, and seems to hold 100% pressure. Moved on to the compression test, and got range of 155psi to 165psi with 160psi average...
