Exhaust help (Exhaust gurus chime in).....

Ok guys I need suggestions/advice on what exhaust system to use.. I dont plan on going any faster than 12's if that helps..

Mods are

Razors alky, TTchip, Accufab AFPR, Autolite 23s, Kirban wires, test pipe, Rtronx 32lb, Rtronx hotwire, Walbro 340, FT maf pipe, 9"K&N, 160 Tstat

Downpipe, turbo and exhaust are stock...

Best time so far is

1/8 8.29 @82.84
1000 10.87
1/4 13.09 @101mph

Im hoping a good catback will put me in the 12s..

I thought about just leaving the exhaust as is and doing a test pipe with a dump but I keep reading about lean issues when using those..

Do You guys think a 3" single shot is overkill for this combo?
Suggestions please....

The RJC 3"DP with dump and their 3" exhaust system.It will cost about $1050 but both are made from 304 stainless steel,they look awesome and are very high quality,this will be the last exhaust system you will put on your car.A friend of mine has this setup and runs 11.90's with it.I will be replacing my exhaust in the near future and will be going with their (RJC) 3" exhaust system.

Are there noticeable horse/torq gains form the pypes exhaust systems?

The Pypes system might make the back pressure a little less but I doubt alot of gain.

cant answer that ? I had a hooker system that was chambered and was restrictive .but when i changed the exhaust i changed just about everything else too . So there was a big improvement .but i cant say that it was the exhaust .its just so much quieter than before .the hooker system made it sound like a v8 and droned at speed .drove me nuts .i like to hear the motor working not the mufflers .thats why i like it . Pypes

You might like this one. STAINLESS CATBACK EXHAUST No matter what one you get, I would stay away from the single shot if you drive the car a lot. The drone will drive you crazy.

You can get to your number with the stock exhaust. Is it in decent shape? That money spent on exhaust could go somewhere else. I have a single 3" exhaust. It is loud but I like it. When I go out I'm not trying to hide I'm set on kill.:biggrin:

Yes that's probably the main issue.. My exhaust is stock style but is only a couple years old.. Its in really nice shape so Im not in it for a new looking exhaust Im all about picking up horsepower...

Did You notice a power gain with the 3 inch?

Very little, if any performance gains. I put the catback in only because my stock exhaust was starting to rust out.

A good flowing 2.5" system is worth 20+ HP over the stock exhaust WITH a stock engine turbo combo, more if the car makes good power. FOr a real quiet, NO drone system, search for "three muffler system" Pricey, but it is the ONLY system that eliminates drone. A single 3" is OBNOXIOUS!!! But then again, I am OLD.

Don't know what muffler this is, BUT I can tell you this is exactly what my GN sounds like with a 3" DP & 3" single pipe with a Hooker Aerochamber muffler.

You cant even hear mine untill you get on it. Go to pypes .com they have all the sound bytes you need .you cant tell mines even running .. Nice and quiet

You have to come to a common ground between noise levels and performance gains. Bottom line on these cars is backpressure=performance lost. The best performance exhaust would theoretically to cut your DP off right after the turbo. You want the best free flowing system you can stand to listen to.

I have heard this system and it is extremely quiet. Shoot me Bens number when you get a chance. I lost it when my phone took a dump. x2 on the mufflers Mark.
