Just wondering how many of you guys do the cooking ? I do all the cooking here and my wife likes it that way , although she does the baking , apple & pumpkin pies . I just finished getting everything in the ovens so I get a little break now . I started with 2 20 lb turkeys , 10 lbs candied yams , 2 8 qt dutch oven pans full of stuffing , 10 lbs potatoes ready for mashing , sweet snap peas , and getting ready to start cooking the fresh cranberry sauce. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE , Sam

We both do it. I usually get the peeling fruit and vegetables job and lifting the bird so she can season and stuff it. My son comes home the day b/f so he can make some Pizzele and cook the stuffing. She definitely does the baking (one of the reasons I married her:love:). I get setting the table and washing the pots and pans job too.

Usually the entire family comes over and I do everything except for the deserts. This year we are all going to my sisters so I'm making cornbread dressing and mashed potatoes as we speak. Good looking turkeys you got going on there!

16 for dinner... I started doing this a few years ago instead of one huge 30 lb + turkey , we like the leftovers. It was a good thing last year that we had 2 turkeys because my bother inlaw slipped while carrying it down stairs and it ended up on the floor with a shattered platter. After seeing if he was alright I went back and started plattering up the other turkey , disaster aborted !! He is not allowed to carry the turkey this year !!

Where are you in Ontario? I'll be up! Just kidding. I do the turkey. Twice baked sweet and regular potatoes. Sausage stuffing, fresh rolls, etc. Phil

Funny stuff guys...

I am usually a last resort for feeding the kids on a regular basis, much less the whole fam. Apparently Thanksgiving is the exception (if I'm not deployed). The wife will take care of the desserts and baking ect. while I give the bird the 3rd degree ... Made a turducken a few years ago which came out pretty good. I didn't get any complaints but the family was probably just being nice.

Happy TG TB!

9:30 pm and I just finished cleaning the last pan !!! I can't wait for Christmas Eve dinner , my wife's side & my B-day, then Christmas day dinner, my side & my dads B-day !!! Hope everyone had a good time with family & friends . Sam

Has anyone tried deep fried turkey? its really good, it only takes 55 mins to cook a 16 pounder. just saying...
yea i know i am kinda late but what the heck...

I've heard that they are rather tasty, but you have no stock for gravy and I like that 5 hours of cooking time to prepare everything else , plus the smell of that turkey roasting can't be beat .

i agree but if you eat a deep fried turkey once, you will never go back. especially if you inject the turkey.
Even if you wanted to do it for a weekend dinner, it would be ok, because you can make the turkey fast.

after TWO thick pieces of prime rib, bacon scalloped potatoes, generous portion of turkey breast, sausage stuffing, small piece of ham, smaller taste of pork roast, 2 servings of creme brulee, and various other tastes of goodies, (chinese egg rolls, guacamole & chips, bananas foster, etc)
buffet was about 80 to 100 ft long! plus desert area.
we (wife and I) waddled over to gambling machines, where I quickly lost $20, and she as quickly won $600 ($606 to be exact), so we quickly left and went home,
I hope all had an equally as enjoyable dinner/ day,
