Can or should a person weld a 6 point or cage while the engine and trans is out of the car?
I don't have the engine and trans ready yet but would like to start this project while waiting but was afraid without the weight of trans and engine in the vehicle while doing the welding may somehow make the bars rub in the car or stress the car once the engine and trans replaced if welding is done prior?

Thanks

PS- does anyonehave this damn Tapatalk add pop up on their droid phone on this site like every time you click anything? How do u make the madness stop?

You should not have a problem welding in a cage or rollbar without the engine/trans in place.

Make sure your frame is properly supported and level before you weld anything to it.

Support the frame in several places and make sure it is level/square before you stick the torch to it.

One more thing, if the car has the original body bushings, you might want to change them out, cause if you install the cage then have to put new bushings in it will raise the car off of the cage. HTH Jr.
