Weatherstrip Woes

I ordered soffseal door seals / roof rail and they are laughably bad - didn't install them just dry fit. The door seals are not even close. The roof rails are slightly less unbelievably awful. Ordered the metro door seals a few days ago to see if I have better luck w/those but after reading a bunch of threads i'm not too hopeful. Still waiting on them to arrive, fingers crossed.

I have searched hi/lo for some GM stuff but I guess there is no such animal out there anymore? I was ready to pay a painful amt to get the right fit, no luck though.

Are there any other options out there that give you a chance at doing this job right?
I have been dreading to do this for years on my roof rail door seals, I have a pair of Metro brand roof rail seals that I bought years back.. The factory seals are starting to get a little rough looking now.. Post how you make out with the Metro seals, how they fit or don't fit. I know slamming the door will be an issue until these new seals break in, if they break in!

Dreading x2! I need to do mine sooner rather than later...as it is now, I have to wash the car carefully, I can't spray water directly at the side windows because it'll leak inside. I dare not drive it even on a cloudy day, for fear that it might rain. The T-roof itself seems to seal well, but the weatherstripping where the rear edges of the side windows meet the B-pillar is pretty worn out. Terrible fitment or not, it needs to be done.

I'm interested in an update on which product is the best...or least bad...saying they all suck isn't really helpful. :)

My T is in a shop getting some paint issues repaired, while they're at it, they will replace the weather strips on both doors plus adjust the windows. I'll be getting her back on Monday so, if I remember, I'll post how well the windows work.
The body shop did a great job on the paint plus they replaced the belt line strips and the upper door strips. The rubber came from Mr. Kirban a couple of years ago. I already replaced the passenger side. Well, the car came back, they didn't adjust the side I did but, the drivers' side works great. The passenger side-not so much, have to open the door to close the window

Okay, cliff notes version, total sh**how!

I have been through several pairs from both soffseal and Metro, here my conclusions:

- metro door seals appear to be better molds, having said that they are not perfect. Im no expert, and my abilities are weekend warrior status, so it turned out ......meh, okay with the expected result of my door now takes quite a big more force to close all the way. That should break in a little bit over time, hopefully.

-- As for the roof rails, I've been through 4sets and they range from "avg" to "how did this make it passed QC". The 2 sets of Metros I have received are basically unusable bc of the way they have been stored. there are folds / kinks along the window edge / corners etc. I actually have the laid the metros out in the garage to see if the TX heat n humidity can return them to form. The "best" of the bunch so far actually turned out to be soffseal, they are in pretty decent shape, decent meaning probably usable, maybe. I think. lol. One of the main differences between the two are the molded ends. The metro molded ends on the roof rails are slightly smaller and appear to be more OE shape and size. The lines are better and they are in a word, cleaner. Also, the molded ends are also solid. Conversely, the soffseals molded ends are slight larger, slightly more awkward looking, and are hollowed out. That hollow feature might not be a bad thing though, b/c with the new door seal it already has a "hard close" issue. if I were to add the Metro solid molded end @ roof rails it's going to compound that issue. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. It's basically deciding whether you want mayo or mustard on your sh** sandwich.

attached some pics for comparison.

I just installed new Goodmark doors on my car this week. I purchased the roof seals 4 years ago and only installed the driver side at that time. I can't remember who made that, possibly Metro, possibly Soffseal. The door gaskets are Soffseal. My main problem with the roof seals is that they are too thick at the bottom and rub on the door panels. Now they are black instead of grey. They also don't have the wavy metal reinforcement like the factory. The door gaskets are OK other than they are just foam rubber at the screw holes. The OE had metal molded in so the screws could be tightened, I only tightened them enough to make contact with the gaskets and not squeeze through. I do have slight wind leaks, and I have to slam them to shut, but compared to the flapping doors I was scared to close to hard I'll live with it.
