I'm trying to locate a 2.00" OD ,1 ft length piece of 304 stainless tube for an external waste gate tap. Suppliers say my order is too small or they want my stage 2 block in trade??? Anyone know where I can purchase a couple of small pieces?

Thanks a bunch for the response. I was part of the Powertrain & base engine group at Buick & GM Powertrain. The turbo v6 group are friends & co-workers.

Thanks for all the suggestions & fishing around. I'll end up with a usable pipe.

What you can’t buy a small piece of stainless? Here is a picture of the one I just did for my headers when I swapped to a T4 4 bolt turbine housing. I got a small piece from my local metal supply Patton’s

I have a chunk of pipe on the way. The hope used to be that you could scrounge around in a scrap tub & find a usable piece of stock. External gates provide rock steady control & in most cases a noticeable power increase.

This isn’t always true . I have seen some terrible placements of the gate . So if you have the wastegate placement correctly in the flow path then yes you should have rock steady boost control .

Yeah, thanks for the reminder about the gate placement. This is critical for solid control. The supplier of my down pipe agrees that an external gate yielded another 18 hp. I don't know what their test plan looks like. I have had prior experience with poor gate placement and it was a complete re-do. Thanks for your help and I appreciate your knowledge / expertise.
