And guess what failed multiple times today....
My crank sensor! Lol

I Have fast and had loss of crank sensor and no start a few times today. I see cam sensor signal led flashing....but no crank.

After a few cycles of power and attempted start-up...i eventually got my crank signal back and then injectors fired and instant start.

It is my crank sensor Steve ;)
You think its the crank sensor?:sneaky:my bet is on the 30 yr old wiring/pins/terminal pin tension issue:whistle:...also if you think it the sensor....a simple test would be to spray it with brakleen....that will cool it and it will restart.....now if you change it besure to recheck the base timing again as not all sensors are the same...they vary depending on the way the mold is set up----enjoy and good luck:)

I am sure you know this....but I will toss it out there ...with xfi the base timing is adjustable if it is determined to be off

I repair cnc machines and rapid prototyping equipment. I operate 12 cnc mills daily and also a fleet of 3d printers. I work daily with really high tech sensors encoders and various closed loop systems. I build custom 5 axis cnc mills with less than 5um accuracy for machining titanium implant parts. It is my business and my toys. I also sell and operate 3d scanners and various cad and cam software

Just a little about me

I think it is possible my crank is moving in thrust direction forward and/or poor crank sensor or its mounting

Maybe my crank balancer is wobbling

This is where we focus!

I wait for springs. I may try to log the crank sensor in a better way somehow or upgrade it to better ring and sensor.

The oem sensor and ring are sh1t imo.
You can watch it from under the car, see if it wobbles a lot. The thrust is easily check too. You said Bobby just went through the engine so it most likely sound.

Wtf are you talking about?
My car wpuld.not start sitting in my driveway this morn at ambient temps.

Temp of the sensor?

Yes. I know how to measure things.
I cannot recreate the load at wot and measure. My trans and converter and entire drivetrain all affect the crank moving and vibrating

I am talking about under load conditions.
You are welcome to hang yourself from under my front bumper at wot If You want and tell me what you see.
Not sure how you are going to be measuring anything by just looking?

My sensor was previous loose and same symptoms. Ok?

I think I still have that same sensor. Not replaced.
It shows signs physical trauma.

I may replace the balancer with a harmonic design and use different ring and sensor of a more modern design.

Adjust the fast to be happy with new signal ;)

Dude. You are all over the place. Stick to the topic. Steve is giving you great advice. If you Suspect the sensor just change it already. It's a quick and easy job.

You say you don't know what springs are on there but then say you bought the correct springs. Where they properly installed?

You then say you are for sure your crank sensor is the issue.

I'm sure you have deeper issues than a crank sensor. There is more to it. Old wires. Bad connections. Dirty connectors. Lots more than just a sensor.

That is not the problem. Only a symptom.
Crank sensor came loose once already

Someone adjusted it and it moved positions! This tells me that ring has hit the sensor. I posted that I can see the damage dipsh1t

Ok. Figure that crap out on your own. Quit asking questions and not taking the advice, then getting all butt hurt when it's not the advice you want to hear. Take your loose ass sensor and your slow ass XFI car to someone that will steal your money.

Askhole.

I don't remember asking for advice.
Just stating my.results and what I am doing next.

:D

I believe a well.known TSM racer named Jason white either owned this car or helped to build it. The cam is newish and of course came as a kit with lifters and springs. The car has decent springs. I have money and bought three different springs for my tech to have at his disposal. He choose not to change them. I trust even more.now that I see the crank sensor signal is dropping out.

I believe my tech was correct and myself to consider the crank signal and not what Steve said. If you do not like that then go read another thread

Btw I make around 500k a year for a very good reason. No luck involved. Don't worry about me or my money jackhole. My own businesses for over 20yrs.

I have two house two boats four jetskis and multiple building for my medical manufacturing businesses and high tech cad/cam facility
And you are....?

I take advice from people more successful than me. And that probably ain't you.

A 100% stock long block running 11.4 is not considered slow btw moron.
Just a larger turbo and fuel system and fast added.....212/212 comp cam kit.
19psi of boost and eventually creep to 21psi on 3rd (idiot)

Blah blah blah. I make this much. Blah blah. I own this stuff. Blah blah.

Your car is still slow and you are still an ASKHOLE!

I went 10.53 on a stock long block by the way. So yes. Your car is still slow.

I had in past, and stiil have issues with crank sensor signal.

I already have non-stock springs that came with the Comp Cam kit.

The issue has not been properly identified yet, only the symptoms.

I am 99% sure the crank signal is funky and <1% thinking it is the valve springs.

You are the One who brought up money in the first place douche. Not me.

Car was tuned by Cal and Bobby.
Of course we double and triple checked the timing with a light and adjust timing correction in the fast....from 10 degree to 9.5 degree.
I even checked again last week. I forced the car to 10 degrees with the TR6 ignition and hit the crank with a light and still 10 degrees showing on the balancer.

It is the sensor Steve, or it's signal. The sensor was loose last summer.
Last week I looked at it and it moved again and was rubbing the ring.
So, time to dig deeper and find out why.

Converter shimmed too tight? Thrust bearing on crank? Wobbly balancer or ring?

I am trying this sensor.
Sold from "Standard Motor Products", out of Disputanta, Virginia.....just South of Petersburg.

Obviously looks different from OEM sensor.

OEM style crank sensor....

For our cars, we only have One ring.
Other Buick V6 actually have a better design with Two rings. (3.0 V6)

You see our sensor has provisions for Two rings, but we only use One. lol
I may or may not have success with the wrong sensor?

It is just a square wave signal On/Off and I think there should be no issues.
My current sensor is half-baked and sometimes seems to have total loss of signal during start-up, and also at higher rpms.

You would think this is either a bad or good part....with no middle ground.

I am not offering advice in this thread. If you want my help call me or good luck.

I don't like the direction this thread took, these cars are my passion, I know quite a bit about them. Don't need to spout off credentials or how much I have or make. My reputation speaks for itself. I certainly don't know everything and am not above saying I am wrong.

Good luck.

If you are sure it's the crank sensor then fix the damn thing already. Oh that's right. You're too prissy to get under your own car and fix the shit.

Proves being somewhat rich won't make a car quick! No one here gives a shit about your income, houses, or boats either and your car is slow for the work it has done. Maybe you should start listening to people less successful than you and maybe just maybe you'll learn something about how to make a TR run the number.
