Took a while but figured out who is a little B*tch and who actually supports the pros.

The problem is the myth that anyone can take a bone stock TR, some paper clips, zip ties, slicks and race gas and run 10's that weekend after buying a clapped out one that barely runs from the 5th owner on the original timing chain and springs.

This is so true it is now part of my signature. ;)

^don't forget you have to ''push more boost''

...and that's it.

You must be famous...

There's what, a handful of guys that went 10's 20 years ago after tons of passes on what they claim $1500 in mods, only to end up breaking it anyways. I'm a member of Drove Over The Crank Club when on my way back from Burger King in April 2001, 22 psi on pump 93 = boom, saved the heads, intake and headers, power steering pump and AC, that was it. Never found #5 and #6 connecting rods.

So true.. I did the car fax on mine to look at just those issues. I am 3rd owner counting the car lot that sold it to me and no DS loop or performance suspension installed. My car's biggest problem will likely be some ole lady never blew the carbon out of it.. Since I have an inner ear issue that prevents me from participating this year, I am going through the entire car from front to rear during the off season. Going to try and stay as stock as possible due to the current value. .20 over max if that. May even just slightly hone and lap the valves with stock valves cleaned up and stock rings replaced. I already know from the trunk lid that the original owner liked his trans to shift a little hard;) LOL "Trans, shifts hard".. That's for the sheeple I see here quite often.. I think someone calls them Mutton... ;)

If that's truly your game plan, and the cur currently runs, I wouldn't open up that engine if I were you. All you do is spend a bunch of money on gaskets to half ass it, then end up with a less reliable engine.

Half ass what? Lapping the valves and re-ringing it? New valvesprings and a little spring cleaning on the intercooler, replaceing the 190 with a 160. I already have the parts purchased and including seals, springs and all gaskets. not building much boost due to valve seat issues already. How is just doing a very basic re-build, spring cleaning half assing it? Im not racing the car for money.. Im keeping it in good working order. And keeping it stock other than new gaskets, springs and thermostat. If I were building a race car out of it I would be using and aluminum block and heads, ported polished and a stroker kit with real diff and drive shaft, sway bars and countless other aftermarket crap. Me putting all stock parts in it after 32 years I would say is whole assing it.

See, here's how this goes.

First they ask, what are your goals?

Then when you state what your goals are, they crap on you.

Fast with Class, right?

Do you just go around the boards trying to start shit with people?

Nope, but I do call BS when I see it. Been a member here for well over a decade.
