I have a 1987 T with 8.5 rear end .

I just got the Viking bolt-on coilover kit and wondered if the "T" bar is good that came with it or should I make a "Double ear" like what the QA-1 set comes with ?

Is the shock mount strong enough foe the weight of the car ?

I have the UMI shock tower bar also.

I got rid of the stock T mount that my QA-1 coil overs use . (as far as mounts go, will be itentical to the Viking Coil over )
Went with QA-1's double ear mount...it's much beefier and way stronger
Also have UMI's shock tower brace..
For the street use my car see's its fine, however if you have a high HP track car, would suggest strengthening upper shock mount area or damage could occur from coil over use .

As I have seen the QA-1 lower mount puts it close to the tire and some have to install a spacer so their tire does not rub.

Like a few others, I have my rear wheel well filled so even an small spacer can not be used.

I was wondering if the top mount ("T"type shock mount) that comes with the kit will be strong enough since it does see more street time than track (drag type) time.

This engine is 704 pound feet and leaves off the trans-brake at the track.

I used the top brace that came with the Viking kit on the top of the mount point and used the the QA1 underneath the mount point
Also have the umi cross bar
