I took my stock system off this summer and if memory serves, there are too flat spade style hooks on the over-the-axle pipes that slide into loops attached to the body. The muffler itself was not attached to the car in any way.
It attached to the over the axle pipes with standard U clamps.
The whole thing was suspended this way....
Y pipe clamped to cat (test pipe), end of Y pipe attached to over the axle pipes with U clamps (might have been attached to body with rubber straps here), over the axle hanging in rubber "belt loops" attached to body, muffler attached to axle pipes with U clamps.
The exit pipes were attached to the muffler with U clamps too.
