Removing a vibration that starts at 50mph and goes away at 65.

The car used to do this, but since the engine was rebuilt and the trans had an inspection I found that the stator splines have worn to more than half their size. To make a long story short I left the trans as is. Now the vibration comes on at 50 and stays.....to the point of where you fear going faster. The tires are new and balanced twice, and the u-joints are 26 years old and still mint.
My plan it to install a hardened stator and a 2300 stall torque and see if it clears up. Let you know!

If you still have the vibration present, have your drive shaft checked & re-balanced. For piece of mind, might want to replace your U joints, 26 years & they have to be somewhat worn.

I did mine recently & it cleaned up a vibration that started at around 50mph & didn't clear up until just above 70mph.

Turns out in addition to the drive shaft being out of balance, the front U joint was not centred in the yoke when it was pressed in, additionally they found the drive shaft was slightly bent (which they managed to straighten out). Had them install new Spicer (non-greasable) HD 3R U joints while they were at it too.
They even cleaned it up & put a fresh coat of paint on it. Good as new now (actually better)!

Smooth as a babies behind now at any speed. Seems this was the gremlin I was chasing for years!

OX2 on the 26 yr old u joints. Things get old. Corrosion on just one of those rollers can cause problems.

The stator support needs changed, but I don't see how it causes a vibration that occurs between 50 and 65 mph. It is just holding the stator in the torque converter.
You will love what a higher stall converter does. I know it made mine much more fun on the street.

If they are stock remember the factory puts some kind of plastic in there that must be heated out. Fun stuff.

Not sure if that will work but it is suppose to be a vid if my son and myself using a mapp gas torch to burn that plastic out.
