Oh boy, changed out the turbo, started the engine and within 1 minute the drivers side exhaust manifold was glowing red hot. So, thaought maybe the turbo was stuck. Well, the turbo was not stuck when I took it apart. Any thoughts on where I messed up?

I would guess your timing is way late. The fuel is burning so late in the power stroke and still burning during the exhaust stroke.

Red hot exhaust can come from too lean a mixture, but that wouldn't get super hot at idle.

What year engine is this? I can't see sig. Agree on late timing,. Typical of the late 70s and early 80s smog engines. Retarded timing was for lower emissions.
