Does anyone use a rearward drive shaft loop? The place that built my drive shaft recommended one on each end. I've searched and haven't found much information.
They are normally installed so if the front drops your car doesn’t pole vault damaging the car and track. Back wouldn’t hurt anything but if it breaks it will not cause the same carnage.
I’ve never seen a rear mounted driveshaft loop. But that’s not a bad idea. Years ago, I broke a rear u-joint on a 72 Ford Gran Torino. The driveshaft destroyed the exhaust pipe and bashed up the floor pan.
The loop would have to be tall enough to allow full suspension travel. If a shaft were to break at the back, it's still have plenty of room to tear up everything it touches.
