Re-locating to Northwest Florida

I tried to use the search function for this but kept getting errors so I apologize if there is already a post asking the same question. I will be re-locating to Hurlburt Field/Forth Walton beach later in the summer and was wondering if there are any good Buick specialists in Northwest Florida. Right now I have the luxury of Boost performance in Amarillo TX for help when I run into something I cant work out on my own and I would definitely appreciate having the same kind of help when I move. I'm also interested in getting to know other Buick dudes in the area and attending any events that are close by.

Thanks
Joe

Hello J, I'm in the same exact situation! Living in the desert right now but PCS'ing to Herbie in Aug so i'll see you around. Nice to know there will be another GN on base... -Mike

Check out Cruising the Coast in Biloxi Mississippi, I think it's in Oct. Week long event with lots of muscle cars. There's also a Cars and Coffee meet in Pensacola that I saw on FB....

I'm at Hurlburt. My car is down right now though, no idea when I'll get it back on the road. Nice to see a couple GNs moving to Herbie, hit me up when you guys get here...I don't know of any specialist around here but I've never really searched, I just work on my junk myself.

Very cool. Are both of you guys Air Force too? My car is in my dad's garage in Ohio while I'm deployed but I will get it shortly after I get all settled there. After that I've got a brake upgrade and XFI setup to install... maybe we can have some beers and turn a few wrenches! Slick, what's your car down for right now? -Mike

Yep, Air Force...motor has to come out, pretty sure I hurt the head gasket on #3 and I have a long list of smaller stuff to take care of and some upgrades as well. Got into the middle of it and had to stop.

I hear ya, normal life has a way of getting into the way of things. Sounds like an opportunity to go big! Let me know if you ever need a hand pulling that motor....

I'm Air Force as well dude. I usually do small jobs on the car but I know my limitations and don't want to jack up a sweet ride by tinkering without "adult supervision." I love my GN but I'm slowly but surely finding out that this was not a great novice hobby car.

Welcome to Northwest FL. I'm civilian at Eglin and have a GN, but it is in paint shop - probably for rest of year. There is a group of GNs in Panama City that go to Friday fest or First Friday, but I've been out of touch for winter and with my car in the shop haven't been in contact. Locally there is a cars and coffee - 0900-1200 at Santa Rosa Mall second Saturday of month behind Starbucks, open to anyone and it was started by the local BMW club. On the Third Sunday we have a group of american car owners - Emerald Coast Auto Enthusiast and meet at 1000 same place - Santa Rosa Mall behind Starbucks and roll out for a cruise and then go eat somewhere together usually around 11 or a little later. Really like to see you guys come out, the other GN in the group has a blown head gasket and is temporarily down and sort of on hold with life issues too. To answer the original question, don't really have a local expert which explains why I've been reluctant to do too much other then easy bolt ons to mine. Our local 1/8 mile track in Holt is supposed to open soon too. Facebook for Emerald Coast Auto Enthusiast isn't too active, but you should be able to see my Buick in some of the pics.

We got a few GNs on the Gulf Coast MS Biloxi-Gulfport area, could do a super meet sometime..

Now I'm really starting to miss my car. I'm willing to contact Panama City group if we can find a central area for super meet. Suspect Pensacola (not sure where to meet) would be about midpoint between Panama City and Biloxi if I know my geography. FWB would only be another 50 miles or so for you guys and meet third Sunday next month. Any other suggestions? Guys that started this thread aren't even in area yet, guess this would get them excited about coming to the coast.

Glad to hear that there are several Turbo Buick fanatics in the area, looking forward to meeting everyone at the events. I'd also be more than willing to help anyone with their projects, I've had the motor out of mine 3 times (this last one is for good)! Thanks again for responding to this thread...

Thanks for bringing interest to this area of FL on the forum. Always seems to be central or south FL where they get together. I'll try and keep this thread going and see if we can't keep the interest going so we have a ready to meet up group when you and Jseverin show up. Thank you for your service, and God bless the USA. Will try and get a hold of the Panama City group.

This is awesome, really looking forward to meeting up with you guys. I lived in Pensacola for 2 years so I'm very familiar with the area, just didnt own my GN when I was there. I honestly didnt think I would have so many people respond, because like Front Mount said it seemed most of the dudes were down in Central FLA.

Im in Milton Fl about 20 minutes from Pcola.

That would be great to have a GN meet up sometime. I feel like the Lone Ranger around here.

Hey guys, I'm recently retired AF from Herbie as well. Living in Crestview (an hr north from Herbie). Got here in summer of 2013 and punched 1 Mar 2016. Anyways, GN enthusiast here as well. Have a HT 87, fully built by KDK Perf in Orlando. Unfortunately, car is at my father's garage in Jacksonville due to all my PCS's (Korea, Alaska, etc), didn't want to take it. For now, have to make space in my gargage as I have other toys in there as well. Would love to get together sometime for a meet, hangout or help anyone with tinkering even though the GN isn't here yet. If you would like to know more about Herbie, let me know. Btw, what are your AFSCs? 2A7X1 AC Metals Tech/Fabrication Flight here.

Hi TTA 81. Welcome to the discussion. Your GN is about what I think I'd like to get to someday. Small roller with a nice parts selection. When do you think you'll get your GN to the area? Be nice to have a few of us get together when these guys show up in a few months to welcome them. I can't make the two events at Santa Rosa Mall this month, but plan on making it in July. I'll keep you and the rest watching this posted or you could drive that sweet 81 TTA and check out second Saturday or third Sunday. Third Sunday sometimes gets cancelled, I'll try and post status if I hear.

PWT, If you have your GN and it runs, no wonder you feel like the lone ranger. None of us have our cars or have them running. Guess it is curse of the dark side. I should get mine back later this year - probably when it cools off a little.
