Quick plumbing for water cooled turbo

I just received a precision water cooled turbo that I would like to install in the next few days before I park the car for six months.

I’ve seen people here hook it up to where the TB lines would normally go, I will enventually do this but the car has no heater system whatsoever.

I’ve also seen the one where the guy tapped new lines on to the intake and pump, clean set up for sure. But I don’t have time for that at the moment.

My idea is to put a fitting on the spot where the hard heater line goes, and take that to the upper side of the turbo. Then hook up the lower side of the turbo to the now capped spot on the water pump.

Would this set up work?

As long as you have a flow and drain hooked up it should work.

You can adapt the pipe threads to hoses easily and NAPA has generic hoses with right angle bends in them in 3/4" and 5/8" etc.

Nice! What size hose did you use? I found the M14 fittings for 1/2 hose. Should be enough for it, right?

More than enough. My turbo had 3/8" NPT pipe threads for the water cooled section.

I believe some people were using the throttle body water lines which are a lot smaller than 1/2", I thought that was too small.

The lines are whatever fits into the stock water heater feed and return line I just T'd them in there with the stock setup. I believe they are 5/8" and 3/4" lines, it's been years since I did it though....

Perfect then. I’m using the intake coolant port and the port on the water pump

Fittings arrived yesterday so i went ahead and installed the turbo. Here is a list of what I used if anyone is looking to do this. Keep in mind, I currently DO NOT have a heater system on the car.

I used the heater core tap on the water pump as the turbo inlet and the heater return on the intake manifold as the turbo return.

Parts used:
1/2 NPT? To 1/2 inch barb (hardware store)
(2) M14 x1.4 to 1/2 barb fittings (summit or amazon)
1/2 barb to 3/4 barb adapter (hardware store)
Thread paste for the fittings
3/4 hose 90 degrees
2 ft of 1/2 heater hose
Box of 10 hose clamps

All of this ran me about $55 bucks with the M14 fittings being the most expensive part. It was super simple

Back from the dead...
One fitting to the intake manifold coolant port and the other one on the water pump lower fitting?
Can you repost pics please?

I used the same coolant circuit as the S thermo bypass hose.
Used braided lines and AN fittings.
Looks and works great!!
