Selling a Turbo Regal that is register in CT. No title is required for vehicles over 20 years old in CT. What is required for the buyer if they live in Illinois? Do they need a title or is the CT registration signed over from seller to buyer on the back ok?

I believe they are going to need the title. It will be very difficult to get a title issued in Illinois with no title supplied to the auditors at the DMV.

See in ny cara before 73 or 74 didnt have totles but transferable registrations. It acts like a title. That maybe case w ct as well. Also could always hire a title search company and theyll get one.

Mark, just cut thru all the guesswork... Call the DMV, yourself.
Better yet, have the buyer do the leg work.;)
Georgia is like CT. No title after a rolling cutoff.

kirban 2 cents worth since I got experience in this regard....

One thing that is not constant is titles in every state and it should be heck lein releases in NY actually look like a car title and can fool a buyer unless they changed it form years ago.

Best to call that state DMV car needs to have ID like the spid label and door vin decals....almost positive of that.

Title is required .. and if the title is not in your name there will need to be a power of attorney transfer paperwork
