Thinking of trying my own powder coating operation. I may pull my FMIC intercooler pipes off to powder coat. They have a gun at Harbor Freight for a good price. Anybody ever do their own or use this equipment

Did a few pieces w/ the Harbor Freight unit; not bad (upper & lower radiator hard pipes & some other odds & ends)
I bought an apt. sized oven off C/L to coat in; the main thing is prep/clean/mask.
make sure part are clean & preheat 'em possible.
The only pain is moving the parts into the oven after coating; be super careful or you'll mar the finish.
try some test pieces out. I found www.roseyspowdercoating.com had some good metallics.
There are a ton of how-to websites & videos.

Its not all that complicated, the same rules for painting apply to coating...clean and etch your parts, keep a clean work space and do some test panels first!!! I get alot of business because people need "mistakes" stripped...there is a learning curve so dont jump right into your parts ;-) If you need any other help feel free to hit me up and Ill do my best to help you out...Have fun!!!
