Shortly after rebuilding my engine last year I developed a rather bad oil leak that was hard to find. Turns out it was from the front of the passenger side valve cover. I had installed TA headers and the flange was so close the edge of the valve cover was hitting it preventing the cover from clamping the gasket. It held for a wile due to the gasket cement but not for long.
I removed the header and ground a slight angle in the flange to prevent the interference. I was using cork gaskets which compress slightly more than the rubber ones. It may not have been an issue with rubber, I’m not sure.
Here are pics of the before I ground the flange. I’ll post after when I get back home.
