OFFICIAL: wheel/tire picture thread... show em off!

I'll get pics of the car on the ground when the front wheel show up. Hopefully later this week or early next.

My rearend is 56.5" from wheel mount face to wheel mount face. I think a stock GN rear is 57.25", so take that into account on my backspacing. My frame is notched somewhere around 1" and I have about 3/4" clearance to the frame. My inner wheel wells are also stretched and I have .5" clearance at the tightest point. I don't have enough weight on the back of the car to get a fender lip clearance measurement, but I have lots. The wheel well lips are trimmed so that helps. I probably could have run a 12" wheel and a 335/30/18, but I didn't want to cut it too close.

Very Nice thanks for the info! Did you just use a BFH to clearance the tubs or cut them out and move them?

They were already done when I bought the car. But, the inner was cut out and moved over, then a filler strip was welded in.

The front wheels finally came in and I wasted no time getting the tires on them.

18x9 Weld RTS front with 5.1" backspacing and high pad brake clearance. 245/40/18 MT Sport Comp tires. SC&C stage 2 front suspension with SPC lowers and Baer T4 brakes.
18x11 Weld RTS rear with 5.7 backspacing and medium pad brake clearance. But, the rearend is narrowed about 3/8" per side. Frame is notched and stock wheel wells are stretched about 1". 305/35/18's M/T Drag Radials on the rear

Steve, can you tell me more about what it took to get the 15x10 and 275 under the car? just a frame notch? stock width rear end? i will look for you in bowling green. im hoping to have my car there but its questionable right now...

Close to stock length rear, deep notched frame and we had to hammer the fenderwells in a few spots.
I screwed up on the back space, I should have gotten a 5.5 backspace, there's plenty of room.
Another car we did with the identical setup used a 5.5 and they fit great.

Just got these on my 86 GN last week..
Cragar street stars
Front: 15x7 235/60/15
Rear: 15x8 275/60/15
Suspension: front stock appearing except for a seat bar, front springs wore out sags in the front, rear same story as the front but air shocks pumped up a hair to give it a little rake pretty happy because I picked up the wheels, tires, center caps, lug nuts, everything in new condition ( tires still have nipples on the edges ) for $250 off of craigslist

Forgot to say I had to run to the auto parts store and grab some 5/16 spacers to get the 275s off the frame rail in the rear and also put them on the front not needed but looks better and got the wheel out more flush with the fender well. Them crager ones are a whole lot heavier than the aluminum welds that my dad has lol...

You remember Epsilon wheels? 16 8s F and 16x11's w 255/50's in rear. Lots of looks and questions about them at car shows. No rub in the rear.

You remember those Epsilon Wheels? They still get lots of eyeball at car shows. The rears are 16x11's and 16x8.5 up front. This spring I want to ad springs and lower it a tad to sit better.

Where did you get the wheels at? And what size are the tires?
These wheels are real hard to find as they are now considered vintage. BMWs and Corvette would run them as they were real 3 piece wheels. I was lucky enough to get them off a guy with a modified sports car and they were to wide for his fiberglass fender flairs. Here is an old ad for those wheels....and another front and rear pic of them. I love these wheels as the 16s are era correct for the GN and I like the taller tires compared to the new big wheel/rubber band tires I see all over. 245/50 front n 255/50's tires in rear.

There are a lot of very nice wheels on this thread. Mine are just stock wheels and tires with 19,000 miles. I have not decided what king of wheels go get in the future
