I have searched and cannot find the answers..
I am troubleshooting a tachometer problem on my 86 T-type that has the TR six ignition. Tach died. While checking wiring I found that the tach wire behind alternator was cut at some point and had the blue fp prime connector spliced in, not hooked to anything though; just hanging there like normal. I know, weird. The fp prime wire appears to have been spliced into a hotwire relay. I Did a continuity check from the tack wire back to the fifth pin from the firewall on the CCCI plug and it is continuous. Also good continuity through to the tachometer. Not sure what sort of signal is supposed to come out to tach from the ignition but a voltage check shows about 7.2 V with the key on and the same with the car running. Does that sound right? Also recently, while troubleshooting a fuel pump problem, I put 12v to what appeared to be the fp prime connector but was actually the tach lead. Is there a chance that did some damage to the tach?
Any thoughts?
