New MSD 8551 distributor

What is the condition (going on a "show car")? Do you have the kit that would be normaly included with a new one (such as springs, instructions, etc.)? And the price?

Thank you for the offer but, I'm looking for an "unmolested" one at the very least.

I'm guessing that you mean plug wires. What else can you tell me (or show me with a pic) about it. Condition? Price?

If you looking for a new one, you may be looking for a long time. I just sold one new in the box not long ago and it didn't bring much money.

You should call msd and verify this, but here is another option. Buy an 8548 distributor (buick 215-350v8). http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8548/

The body, shaft and advance mechanism should be the same or equivalent to the 8551. The cap, reluctor wheel and maybe the distributor drive gear are different. But, msd can supply those parts from other distributors.

The cap is available anywhere. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8014/
The reluctor would come off a 4.3 v6 dist (if your putting this on a turbo buick the v8 one will work just the same once modified).
The drive might be the same between a 350 and a v6, but if not the gear should still be avaliable from msd or get one from bop engineering. http://www.bopengineering.com/buick_v6.shtml

Thanks Mike. Called MSD and unfortunately, the Chevy V6 reluctor won't work on the 8548 distributor. It's going on a supercharged GN motor without a crank or cam sensor, so a distributor modified for a turbo GN won't work for me. GnTy said he had one but, as yet, no reply.

I can send you pics of mine. It's not new, but the previous did buy it new. It looks OK but if you need all the reluctors, you will have to find out if you can get the Shaft. I don't think I will ever run a Distributor.

Trying to find parts (shaft) would be much more difficult that finding a complete assembly.
