If you want a deep pan, get a deep pan, but there are plenty of cars running around with the stock pan. I would definately go bottom feed filter(700r4) and go a quart over on the full. Guys go way faster to than 12s on that setup.

Just above the filter?

Are you making a tube from scratch? Running the OEM tube, Just run it to the full line then add one more quart. You could make a new mark on the dipstick. Would be easiest.
