New "E-bay special" Front Mount Intercooler install....BIG!

Last summer I posted the new intercooler I bought on e-bay mounted in my Malibu. Just the core measures 24 x 17½ x 4" thick. Due to the short nose on the Malibu's I had to modify the lower radiator mount and move it towards the rear some.

Since then, I've gotten the engine installed and I've completed the pipes. I also have to remove some of the bottom of the front bumper to allow more airflow. I also need to block off the left and the right inner bumper so the air entering the lower portion of the intercooler doesn't by-pass the core. I saved some money by doing it myself. Total price for this custom installation was about $600. It should be on par with the newest units that just become availble for the Turbo Regals.

Here's a few pictures:

I'm curious how it works out... that should be an improvement over your initial design.....

When will you be testing next?

thats thicker than my 2 core shortened powerstroke but I plan to keep a/c also

malibu/elcamino noses sure dont have much room

heres my el with my modded p/s cooler

clicky

so whens that beast gonna be rippin up the roads again

It's actually on the road but I still have a few things to do still. I have to install the IAT in the up pipe, install a couple of BOV's and to tune the MAFPro for WOT. That thing is almost better than sliced bread...wow!
