More Autocross porn

Had a good day yesterday in Cincinnati. This was good for third against some pretty stellar builds and Danny Popp coached drivers. This thing is actually starting to look fast in the videos.

KYSCCA PE4 today, ran unopposed in CAM-T, which sucked. I would have been 4th of 12 in CAM-C.

The gauges combine GPS and accelerometer data from my GoPro with engine telemetry from my Powerlogger via ALDLDroid and the Scanmaster-G.

Looks like that was a nice wide-open course - nice work!
"unopposed" = 1st Place (doesn't it? :rolleyes::confused:o_O)

It was one of the fastest I've run. Plus that lot is really sandy and my tires are old. It was at the limit of forward traction for most of the course. You can see I never went WOT during the run. Once the boost got much past 13psi, it would spin the rear tires. You can see corrections for that in the video when I'm jerking the wheel around. There was a lot going on.

And yeah, first place is first place. I still get the season points. I had intended to run CAM-C this year, since that class usually runs 12-20 people here, but some (well, one) local Cam-T guys were running their mouths over the winter.

He showed up to the first even, got beat by 2 seconds and broke, and hasn't been back, but there aren't enough events left in the season to switch to CAM-C and still qualify for year end points, so I'll stay for another event and lock that down, then switch to a class with people in it.

It's no fun running alone.

New!
PE 5. Won it again. Locked in CAM-T year-end for my local region. Next event is the CAM Challenge in Peru, Indiana, then I'm hitting Optima in New Jersey.

I took advantage of the unlimited drag passes at the Car Craft Summer Nats to actually tune the car a bit. I'm way up on power than the last time. The acceleration from 20-50 is ferocious now. It'll be fun to see how much the extra power helps me on the larger course at Peru and at NJMP.

Nice!

Any idea of your schedule for NJMP? If I could fit it into my schedule, that is less than 1 hour away from me... it would be cool to see your car an maybe some runs at Auto-X or the track.

Yeah! Saturday, the 26th is Autocross and Design & Engineering all day, with the road rally Saturday evening. Sunday will be the Track Sessions and Speed Stop.
The Road Rally is the only segment we can have a passenger that isn't a fellow registered competitor, which sounds silly, but it's a condition of their insurance coverage.

Got new RE-71Rs on the car yesterday. It goes in Thursday for an alignment tweak, then I scrub the mold release off the tires at the NSRA Nationals autocross, then it's Peru and NJMP.

I'm puttin' that on the calendar, hopefully no conflicts arise
Are spectators allowed/encouraged at these events?

Went to the NSRA Nationals today and had some fun on their StreetKahna course. 44.039, but they counted the down cone you see towards the end against me. :-/

pretty much. It was "interesting".

Ha. I've been to a few different types of events over the years where they call it "autocross" and then put a zillion cones out like that... not my favorite arrangement. But it is still fun, and "when in Rome..." (y)
