Got to meet Xavier aka m3x1c0. We are doing a nice mild build on his 87 GN. Really nothing wrong with this engine inside one of the cleanest I've seen. He wants to learn so I let him play grease monkey too.

I will post some pic later when I go outside to play in the garage.

Build is shaping up like:
2 billet center caps
roller cam
TA cam bearings
TA timing set
GM front cover tricked out
stock pistons
stock crank
studs through out

Sending 6265 turbo to Bison for exhaust seal and new housing.

These are mainly for Xavier's documentation. Pics as promised.

YES! Hahaha your daughter is so adorable! Hows that nail polish recliner doing? lol

Good thing you are getting that stock chain out of there. I caught mine in time. Now I need new bearings . Maybe I'll go forged bottom end if I can save up the money.

What cam are you going with? I'm hoping something like a 214/214 or something around there for that turbo.

Yea, actually the stock plastic wasnt even cracked! probably could have gone quite a while but still glad to get some billet in there!

Lets try and get a re-match in before you build it!

Well I doubt I'll make one pass without the bearings taking a total crapper. Found flakes and my idle oil psi dropped by 10.

Dang man! Well you let me know when you get it back running and we'll get a grudge match going!

That cam gear is the nicest I've seen come out of a motor. Mine probably a quarter of the teeth missing in my stock motor.

Bad ring(s)? Bore goofed up? Cracked piston? Why was that hole leaking so much?

Nope, nope and nope, he already posted good compression in his orginal thread. My guess is the shop who did the leakdown did not know what they where doing or it was valves. I did not take the heads apart to check but stem heights where all over the place on one head. Source of the smoke was the turbo exhaust seal which Bison is taking care of.

So, you cracked the seal on a factory head gasket? That is a nice looking cam sprocket. I'd probably put it back in and run it another 20-30k miles. Chain stretched out? The cam and lifters probably look new too. Too bad that shop tried to get one over. You gotta have the valves closed to get a good leakdown. I was gonna ask if they squirted some oil in ans checked it again.

At least you are in good hands at Steve's.
