I have paid for yearly memberships on other car sites and I've never paid more than 20-25$ a year. This would be my ceiling.
Think of it this way: 100$ a year is almost a Netflix membership, amazon prime, motor trend on demand... etc.

Administrators , Just please remember whatever action you pursue, please take in consideration that there are a lot of poor folks "members" on this site that are in over there head in debt to these DAMN addictive cars, and the knowledge they received here imperative. $25.00 annually for a poor TB owner should be sufficient. Of course if you offer a Hat & Tee Shirt we would be expected to pay more. Someone has to be the voice for poor folks. Thanks..

Be careful, rumor is Grass Doctor likes to stick his tube steak in those packages! :ROFLMAO:

Ahhh the mystery meat . It didn't have the XL condoms with Buick logo packaging either.

ok back to business. Most important thing . How many members will actually pay $25 ? Talk is very cheap and I have been around the block many times. They should have a free thing for the young 80+ year old guys

I belong to a fishing website that charge 20 bucks a year which makes you a "professional" member which has no ads and also gets you into a "professional" only forum.you have the option not to pay the 20 bucks and still have full access to the site, but you have to deal with all the ads.best of both worlds.20 bucks a year is well worth the information that's on this site in my opinion.

Going to be buried in this.
I am in for a ad free membership or donation. I would like it to be a yearly fee and keep in mind that if your price is too much most will just keep the ads. I would be willing to pay $120 a year for the ad free viewing, but more than that I will deal with what I have been this far.

per Anthony P:

"Regarding charging annual membership fees....there is a much greater, complicated web to navigate above and beyond whether membership fees/dues are a good idea or how much or who would pay.

When annual membership fees/dues are assigned, the definition of this "social club" changes. there are several state and federal regulatory agencies from which to comply. The club is regulated by the state in which it is registered. Yes, have to register the club with the state the owner resides unless he chooses to state shop for more friendly state regulations via shell companies and LLC's.

Additionally, there is the federal regulatory compliance to deal with. Expecting the newly defined social club with its membership fee structure is registered as a non-profit 501(c)(7), it must adhere to the IRS regulatory bylaws for 501(c)(7). Part of that is publishing a financial disclosure statement summary to the members of the club detailing the sources of revenue, interest and expenses. While social clubs are not taxed at the federal level, IRS form 990 must be filed each year. if not filed for 3 consecutive years, the club looses its non-profit status. The google ad revenue received may be greater than the allowable income from nontraditional sources for 501(c)(7) status.

It may very well be better to keep the site as a free social club. for more detailed info, refer to the link below."

I'm not sure why people are scared about running people away from the board. This is only a voluntary membership to have no adds. Otherwise the site remains free.

The Buick forum is not a socialist Board, you know like the country’s across The pond. This really should not be a big deal. Nothing is free in this life. It’s cheap info and entertainment both. Hell when I’m able to go out again ( which will be soon ) dinner and a movie with my wife is $100-150 easy. Just between the members and me I would rather do this.

Hell. If I can keep getting Porn pop ups Im in. Maybe a direct link to pornhub. Im in for what ever you guys come up with. This place is still the Holy Grail for turbo Buick enthusiast. Like stated Maybe tone the adds down but still have a membership. That way there is always cash flow for you. I know Shane is not into this to make money but you know what screw that. What's wrong with him making some cash. NOTHING. He has put up with a lot of shit over the years from plenty of people. Maybe some Turbo Buick.com Shirts to help some funding for his projects. Everyone loves T-shirts.

This reminded me back in the 70s, 74 maybe, a bunch of us were going to a movie but it was full so someone suggested going to an adult theater, might of been me(?)and it was a XXX Dirty Harry based one. It was actually a pretty good movie because it had a plot to it and all. IIrc some senator hired him to find his missing son who the star "blew" away at the end with his M-29. Oh, the son turned out to be a tranny so made if difficult for all the other PIs to find him-her-it-whatever. And he did end up with the prettiest girl at the end.

When all of this "ADS" paid membership controversy is finalized. It one thing I have gather from reading all of these posts . There's a lot of OLD FARTS on this board , so I think admins needs to had a seniors section to the board. Then besides posting about T/B we could chat about our grandchildren , retirement, concerts in the seventies when tickets were under 10 bucks and etc ???
