I HAVE A BIG SIS WHO HAS A 97 BONNEVILLE SSEI WITH 79,000 MILES THAT SUDDENLY HAS NO BOOST.
ACCORDING TO HER, THE BOOST GUAGE REACHES ABOUT 0 WHEN SHE FLOORS IT.
WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE?

First, make sure the supercharger belt is still there.
If it is, make sure it hasn't stretched and is still nice and snug against the pulley.
If that is OK I'd check to make sure the bypass isn't sticking.
If that doesn't work make sure the boost guage is funtioning properly.

Good luck.

If the blower belt comes off, I believe the engine will shut down when you hit the throttle. I could be wrong though.

The engine will not shut down. You can drive as long as you can put up with the loss of the extra power. I drove for a couple of days until I got my bent pulley off.

ok... cool!

I guess its because of the bypass valve. I never lost a belt though. If it wasnt for that bypass valve it damn sure will cut off.
