Head gasket

I'm out of my element doing rings. Any write up on how to do this? Can I pull the pan and just remove the pistons and get new rings?

Sorry for all the questions. This quick tear down keeps snowballing into more. Can I just pull the Pistons and use a stock ring to replace it with? My cylinders look good, no scratching, putting or deformity in them.

Any recommendations on rings?

The pistons come out through the top. Have to pull the pan. Unbolt the rod caps. If your are going to go that far, you prolly better off finding a machine shop to do it.

Unless you use a dial bore gauge to verify if the bores are round and that they are not tapered, you may be wasting your time putting rings in it. If the bores are straight and round and not worn to the point of needing to be bored, you may get by with honing the block and putting in new rings. If you have never built an engine and can't take all the measurements, pull the short block and take it to a machine shop that knows Buick V6's for evaluation.
