Last week here in Chicago the weather has been unseasonably mild and while I was working in the area of North and Cicero, I spotted what at first appeared to be a GN about a block ahead of me. I zipped around a few cars and finally caught up to the car as it pulled into a Home Depot at Armitage and Cicero. I then see the GNX badging and realize it is most likely not a clone after spotting the pan hard set up to the rear. The car was driven by a Lady maybe in her mid 40s but heres where the story gets scarry. She pulled into a parking spot locked the door and started to walk away to go shopping. No alarm, not to mention the likelyhood that some stroke might run one of those big carts right into the door! You know its Murphy's Law. So I take the oppurtunity to completely abuse the Police powers given to me and engage the driver in conversation. She tells me the car is an "87" and it was her late Husbands. I countered with I know exactly what this car is! She goes on to say he had a few more cars including a T/Type and a 70 GS! Shes only driving the car because she does not want them to go to waste and then informed me that none of the cars were for sale, but offered to let me drive the GNX. Obviously I declined cuz I know I would end up on the front page of the Chicago Tribune--"Chicago Cop Joy Rides in Rare Muscle Car". Anyway back to the abuse of power issue...After looking over the car and seeing it was car #424(if I remember correctly) I told the Lady that I will be right here while she shops (for light bulbs) to ensure her car is still here when she returns. I have to say the car was really nice I especially like the fact that shes driving the car and not letting it rot away in a garage somewhere. Do u think shooting someone who damaged the car would be a good shoot? ;)

Unreal....

Unreal..........I guess its good she is driving the car...........but take it to a local car show, not shopping.

it's a car, designed to be driven. and it's her car- so good for her for driving it.

Thats awesome! Since the question has not been asked yet........Was she HOT??? Cuz I mean for a garage like that I can over look alot!!!;)

I was wondering that myself, it would add that extra little something to the story. And, yes that would be a good shoot.

Definately a good shoot. I hope you "gathered" her info and gave her yours incase she ever decides to part with it.

GNX or GN in movie?

Did anyone hear about a GNX or Gn being in the fast and the furious 4??

I take it you told her to give you first dibs @ the GNX LOL ! I know I would gave the sob story my grandfather had one LOL !

I'd bang her even if she wasn't hot as long as I got a GNX out of it.

Quite a rare sight to see. Almost tops this story. I live in Sarasota Florida
where there are many millionaires..not me :(

Anyways, during one trip to the local supermarket, there was one of the most
awesome cars ever made. It shares some of the name with GNX engine modifications...McLaren.

If you haven't guessed it, YES a McLaren F1.
I saw it driving on the road another time. WOW!
Same owner also has Mercedes CLK GTR.

If you don't know these cars, look 'em up. You'll be amazed.

(Do u think shooting someone who damaged the car would be a good shoot? ;))

only if you empty the clip:D did you get her number?

Thats crazy Gary. I can totally picture you in uniform driving some lady's GNX with here in the passenger seat. LOL
You should have ran up to here in a frenzy with some story that you needed here car for official police business. ;)

Cool story Gary! A rare sight for sure. Good for her for driving it... but the late husband is probably rolling over in his grave!

A few answers.

Regarding the "Hot" question, I would say not really, but then again like any true Buick enthusiast, her level of hotness was not a point of concern. Especially since I'm married and can't stand my "Hot" wife!:D One more thing I did give her my info and cell number because she mentioned that a mechanic friend of her late husband had located a power antenna and was going to replace it on the GNX soon. She said that it cost her $250.00 for the part. I thought at that point she might be getting rail roaded so I told her to call me if she ever had a question about anything regarding the car. Almost a week has gone bye now and no call yet :frown: .

Good story. However, for your sake I hope it wasn't GNX 424. That is a stolen GNX. You could have been a hero and had a recovered stolen vehicle. Google GNX 424 and you will see what I mean.

I used to live in Sarasota as well - now in Tampa and there was this guy who had 2 GNX's, 1 in the wrapper and the other with less than 20 miles on it and would always get the oil changed 1x per year at the local buick dealership (dealership now sold)

I heard he also had another GN that he took excellent care of.

Brer Rabbit,I own 187# & I think it was nice of you to look out for that lady. I hope you made her aware of the appeal these cars have for thieves. Now for you Florida residents I just returned from Boca Rattan I bought an 08 turbo Porsche from Excell Auto over there.I spent a couple of days visiting & getting to drive the car before having it shipped. On my trip back from FT.Meyers after exiting a toll booth some dark blue mustang started to behave as if he wanted a piece of me.I was trying to ignore him & proceeded to accelerate away to give myself some some distance from this rabble. This went on for some time we reached speeds of about 95 & I was about to really lay one on him.Just then lights went on & it turned out to be a decoy highway patrol cop.I swear you couldn't tell the difference. So after exchanging pleasantries & signing the ticket for 90 we both had a good laugh over my misfortune. This highway is appropriately named alligator alley but not all of them hang out in the swamps. Be aware of the one driving a mustang. lol

Geez Lou, a new Turbo Porsche? I guess this is the last we'll see of you for awhile. Now that you've tasted the good life you probably won't want to deal with old Buicks and Lightnings anymore.

BTW I lived in Boca Raton Florida, and have experienced being pulled over on Alligator Alley. Remember to protect the endangered Florida panther. They're not as numerous as sheep you know?
